Community Update: Our OC Network

I’m writing today to provide an update regarding a change to our network of care in Orange County. Recently, Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian (Hoag) notified Providence of Hoag’s decision to leave the Providence Health Network (PHN)/Oscar Health Plan network effective December 31, 2021. Additionally, PHN’s agreement with Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) is set to expire on December 31, 2021. This unfortunate choice to leave our network was Hoag’s and Hoag’s alone.

Providence places tremendous value on our physicians and their ability to provide the best possible care for our Orange County community. We have invited impacted Hoag and HOI physicians to remain part of the PHN/Oscar Health Plan network by joining the staff of any of the 32 PHN participating hospitals in the region, seven of which are in Orange County. Without taking these steps, the PHN/Oscar Health Plan contracts of certain physicians are at risk of termination by years’ end due to Hoag’s decision to leave the network.

Rest assured, the PHN/Oscar Health Plan network is a comprehensive network of providers with the ability to provide any and all services to our Orange County community that might have otherwise been performed at Hoag or HOI. Additionally, we are excited to expand access and options for care to our patients, as new contracted providers, including Children’s Hospital Orange County (CHOC) and UC Irvine Health (UCI), will be joining the PHN/Oscar Health Plan network beginning on January 1, 2022.

Thank you all for your enduring support as we remain dedicated above all else to the health and wellness of our Orange County community. Now and always, Providence is proud to be Orange County’s premier care network of choice.
